Timeless Garden Wedding at Longue Vue in New Orleans

Crystal and Hieu met in college and spent their first date ice skating and sharing a home cooked meal prepared by Hieu. They are an off-beat, modern couple with an appreciation for tradition. They wanted to honor both Chinese and Vietnamese traditions while welcoming guests into one of their favorite places in the world, New Orleans.

They chose an invitation that would act as incredible souvenir, a custom pop-up card hand-made in the Ukraine by Colibri Gifts. It acted as an invitation as well as a itinerary for the full wedding weekend.

For their midday wedding ceremony Longe Vue House and Gardens was the perfect backdrop. Uncommon Camellia designer, Alexis Nelson planned the ceremony in front of the Main Gouse, overlooking the Grand Front Lawn.

She took their desire for a graden fete and brought it to life with a fern lined center aisle adorned with French blue tassel umbrellas from Lovegood. Floral focused on foraged greenery with pops of Sunflowers, designed by The Plant Gallery. Photographer Gabielle Hail, captured the moments in her signature photojournalistic style.

After cocktails in the garden, chartered buses whisked guests off the Bywater neighborhood to Capulet. Pitched wood ceilings, exposed brick walls, concrete floors, and a spacious rooftop deck set the tone for the modern twist on tradition that the couple dreamed of. Every detail was attended to, from the gold lined scalloped charger (True Value) to the golden menus (Revel Paperie) custom cut to fit the dinnerware.

Designer Alexis Nelson commissioned and heirloom resin cake stand from Lush Magnolia. This unique custom designed piece of art contained the exact flowers used for the wedding day. It was an enchanting base for the hand painted cake by Jenny’s Cake Creations. Behind the cake, The Plant Gallery transformed the venues bookcase into a botanical plant display.
