Alex and Jesse, once local to New Orleans, met at a party while living here. During the spike of Covid, they moved to Colorado, but always felt the pull to bring all those they love to and get married in New Orleans. Their invitation suite, a custom suite curated by Scriptura, was the perfect start to their wedding day story and glimpse into the wedding aesthetic.
Alex wore a Sassi Holford Dress & Veil by Wander Atelier and Jesse chose white tux from Generation Tux. His tux for the reception was custom was made by Balani.
They wanted a garden wedding, but fell in love with the history and architecture of Felicity Church.
The space and design were elevated in many ways, starting with the ceremony.
The backdrop was several oversized Italian cypress trees, a lush ground arbour, created by Antigua Floral, and three oversized chandeliers from Luminous Events. Combined they took this space to the next level and really brought the garden feel indoors.
Alex and Jesse prioritized the ceremony by incorporating heartfelt readings from both of their moms as well as candle lighting for Jesse’s late father and Alex’s late best friend.
The ceremony ended with a brass band leading the newlyweds and their guests on a traditional New Orleans second line through the Garden district. Alex and Jesse provided custom printed totes, flip flops, and custom koozies as favors prior to the second line.
Instead of the traditional black and white umbrellas, Alex and Jesse opted for unique, vintage umbrellas from Bella Umbrella.
Cocktail hour took place downstairs while the upstairs room was prepared for the rest of the evening. Luxury linens for both cocktail hour and the reception were provided by BBJ La Tavola .
Once the reception space was ready, Alex and Jesse and Alex’s parents did a reveal to see the space before guests entered.
Felicity Church is a historical church with antique church pews that had to remain inside the venue. Designer, Amelie Pizza repurposed the pews with custom bar-height tabletops that utilized the existing pews as their base. The innovative idea quite literally elevated the design.
Once dinner was completed, Alex and Jesse cut their cake which was centered on the dance floor. Once cut, the cake was rolled away and the party began. Alex also had a surprise cake for Jesse that was made to represent their hiking trip of when Jesse proposed.
They ended the night with a sparkler exit.
