Sara and Luke hosted a vibrant fall wedding on the grounds of the Old Ursuline Convent in the heart of the New Orleans French Quarter. They reminisce about their first date at an authentic Italian bistro. “We sat outside drinking wine, eating pasta, and talking until we were the last people there and the spot closed down.”
When they consulted with Lizzie Frederick, planner, designer and coordinator with Uncommon Camellia, she knew exactly how to help them bring their vision to life.
They started their design with a love for earth tones paired with flower-inspired shades. As the concept evolved rich hues took center stage. This bridal party is the epitomy of a well balanced, vibrant floral palette, set against the gorgeous ivy wall at The Windsor Court.
The ceremony took place in the chapel of St. Mary’s, a space adorned with timeless architecture and stained glass windows. The intimate setting of St. Mary’s was the perfect setting for Luke to see Sara for the first time.
Following the ceremony, the newlyweds and their guests move to the courtyard of Old Ursuline Convent known for its charming and well manicured English gardens.
Upon entering the convent, guests were immediately swept away by the incredible floral staircase developed by florist Duia and Jean. Tucked beneath the lush floral sat the buttercream cake by Bittersweet bakery.
A custom floral motif, created by the Sara’s aunt, adorned the bars. The tables were a mix of natrual wood and crisp linen adorned with bold florals and romantic candlelight.
For their first dance Mr. and Mrs. Edwards chose Can’t Take My Eyes Off of You, performed live by Nola Dukes Band. The dramatic bow on the back of the bride’s gown, found at Stanley Korshak in Dallas, captivated as she moved effortlessly across the dance floor.
Between dances, guests enjoyed custom face painting by Pirate Ink, glows and Mardi Gras beads.
Before the nights end, Sara slipped into the funnest party dress in town. With her besties by her side she began her final exit. Like the closed down the Italian bistro, Sara and Luke kept the party going until the very last second. They waltzed out the gates of the convent to the tune of Kinfolk Brass Band. From there they paraded guests by second line through the streets of the French Quarter to their after party at Pat O’Brien’s.
