Wedding Planning Advice Sans the Planner

“I don’t want to hire a wedding planner, but I do wish I could pick a planner’s brain…

Even if you want to plan your own wedding, you may find yourself wishing you could just get on the phone with someone who knows the wedding planning process and the area where you are getting married. Couples have told us that even though they loved planning their weddings, they could have used some direction in the early stages to kick off the whole endeavor.

New Service: Wedding Planning Consultation

Our clients asked us to bring them a new service that addressed this problem … and we listened and brought you a new add on service to our popular wedding coordination package. The Uncommon Camellia Planning Consultation.

This is for our clients that have purchased our wedding coordination package but want some expert guidance on how to plan their weddings.

If you’re not sure what wedding coordination is check out this video.

Step 1: Information Gathering

A planning consultation is a thorough review of the client’s budget, design vision, and general logistics and goals for the day. We gather this information through two online questionnaires. One is the work of The Wedding Report with their Wedding Cost Estimator. The other is our own planning questionnaire.

These tools gather the information we need to provide recommendations that are relevant to the wedding the client wants to have. If you have planned a wedding or have even begun the process you know that there is a ton of advice out there and it’s overwhelming, especially because about 75% doesn’t apply to you. These tools make it so that we can give you the in-depth info you need, without all the extras that just don’t apply to you.

Step 2: Recommendations Report

After we collect the information from our client, we develop a custom recommendations report and review with them over a 1-2 hour video conference call. The report includes a complete budget review included suggestions for how to best allocate your funds as well as savings recommendations.

It includes venue recommendations not only for the ceremony and reception but also for the getting ready locations, hotel block, rehearsal dinner and after-party. We give vendor recommendations as well.

The report includes a suggestion for the preliminary Timeline. This can be particularly useful as clients are booking vendors and trying to make sure they have enough time with each of their venues and vendors. We make suggestions for setup, ceremony, and reception.

Step 3: Downloads

The other major perk to this service is that we send downloads to keep your wedding plans organized and on time. We customize our wedding planning checklist to include any custom items for the client’s wedding. We provide an excel workbook with sheets for the overall project timeline, guest list, budget, payment schedule, and a chart for venue and vendor comparison and selection as well as a packing list.

We offer guidance on how to set up an organization system to streamline the planning process as well as etiquette and logistical advice.

It Works

Our clients are telling us that this is a super valuable service and they are loving the results they are getting. If you want to jump-start your planning efforts and get all the insider information you’ll need to plan the wedding YOU want … consider this add on.

Thank you for reading and Happy Wedding Planning!
