This is part 2 of our 3 episode series on what to pack for your wedding day. Part one included items to pack for your photography details, your ceremony, and your reception. This blog wiil tell you what needs to be in your getting ready and overnight bags.

Getting Ready Bag

Pack a bag specifically for getting ready. Start with a few smaller bags that can easily be transferred to your overnight and honeymoon bags.

• Toiletries Bag

• Makeup Bag

• Sewing Bag

• Medication Bag

• Hair Styling Bag

Include your getting ready attire:

• Shirt

• Blouse

• Robe

• Slippers or flip flops

Also undergarments:

• Spanx

• Fashion tape

• Strapless bra

• Gel lift

• Pasties

Then get your wedding day attire together:

• Veil (If you’re using one!)

• Hair accessories

• Clutch, or bag to bring to the wedding with your touch up makeup and other essentials

• Shoes

Use a small bag to pack all of your jewelry:

• Earrings

• Necklace

• Bracelet

• Rings (your wedding bands should be in the details photo box.)

Pack your send-off outfit in a separate bag and include:

• Outfit

• Shoes

• Undergarments

Other Items:

• Nail kit (including polish for touch-ups)

• Perfume

• Lint roller

• Specialty Wedding dress hanger

• Tips (organized in envelopes, we did a separate video on how much to tip and how to organize it all, check out that blog here)

• Speakers/iPod/Laptop for your wedding morning playlist

• Mints/chewing gum

• Pen and notepad

And last but not least:

• The Wedding Dress! Be sure it is freshly steamed and protected by a large garment bag.

And a few items for men, remember ALL the pieces of your wardrobe:

• Vest

• Bow tie or tie

• Suspenders

• Belt

• Underwear

• Socks

• Shoes

• Tie clip (if applicable)

• Cuff-links (if you have a specific pair that you love or have been gifted)

• Pocket square

• Handkerchief

• Watch

What to Pack in your Wedding Overnight Bag

Pack a separate bag as your overnight bag. Or use the same bag and separate into different compartments. This is primarily needed when the getting ready location and the wedding night location are 2 different places. I like it when the contents of this bag are kept to a minimum. You want to have everything you need, but don’t really need your entire honeymoon suitcase for the wedding night. Instead move the smaller bags for toiletries, makeup, and medicine that from the getting ready bah to the overnight bag. This way you won’t be lugging around a massive suitcase from one place to the next.

Here’s what to pack in the overnight bag:

• Wedding night lingerie 

• Makeup remover

• 1 outfit

• Underwear

• Shoes and accessories

• Flat shoes

• PJs

• Painkillers

• Phone charger

• House keys

• A bottle of water

• A hangover supplement

• Cash
